How can you tell if jasper is real or not?
I’m thinking of buying some jasper pendants for $5 a piece. They are about 1″ in length and 1 centimeter wide. Is this price too low to be real jasper?
Answer to first question: You can tell if it is real by doing a hardness test. Jasper is a variety of quartz and it has a hardness of 7. It will scratch glass (which has a hardness of 5.5.) It also will have an uneven fracture when broken.
Second question: Why are you mixing your measurement units? Anyway, the price of jasper depends on color, patterns, shape and quality of the finish. You have not provided that necessary information. No one can make an accurate determination without it.
