You will first need to get all of your materials ready. You will need some round nose pliers, the beads of your choice, 2 earwires, and 2 headpins or eyepins. While it is definitely not a necessity for you to use spacer beads, you can use them if you would like for your beads to frame the other beads. This will give some spacing between your beads and can make each piece look different with a nice touch. Now that you have your materials here are the simple steps to create your drop earrings.

1. First you will need to get your headpin and start adding the beads. You will want to experiment with different styles and colors to see how you prefer your pieces to look. If you purchased the spacer beads you will want to add those in between your beads until you are comfortable with the look of your earrings.

2. Now that you have your beads in place you will want to begin to loop the headpin. You will now use a pair of round nose pliers to bend the headpin 90º. You will then bend the head pin to finish up the loop. Now that you have a full loop on the earring you can add your ear wires to finish them up.

Making your own earrings can save you a ton of time and money by making them yourself. You will be able to do the colors and designs that you desire while always having unique pieces that were carefully crafted by you. It’s a fun, and potentially profitable beading project!

What kind of varnish can I use to preserve metal?

When I do arts and crafts/ jewelery with seed beading, I used to cover (paint) the metal parts(silver or gold tones) of earrings etc with clear nail polish so that it would not change colour.
I am making something with gold-toned safety pins and I wondered if MOD Poge would be better OR if anyone can tell me what to use?

Clear craft spray. Krylon is sold most places that sell spray paint.
