I think you have to put something on the strap like an undercoat or sealer before you paint with acrylics. Take your strap to you local hardware store and ask them about the stuff you need including what type of paints you need. The JoSonya paints are nice especially the metallics, silver and golds. Find a design that you like and manipulate it so that it does not breach copyright and draw on with a pencil. Ask the hardware people for a what type of brush to use. have fun
