Quartz Worktops – A strong companion in your kitchen
Worktop has become an essential part of our kitchen. A worktop includes cooking area, work area and a sink. All these together make it an integral part of kitchen. It is now very difficult to think a kitchen without a countertop. This is a main location to perform cooking work which includes all the work, like cutting, chopping, grinding etc. To bear all these one need a solid platform and there is nothing better option than quartz worktops.
For kitchen this is the best recommended worktop as these have a decent scratch resistance power as compared to any solid surface countertops. These are available in different finishes. Glossy finish that gives shine effect and honed that gives matte finish are fewer examples of variety in quartz.
Quartz worktops fall in the category of modern materials to renovate and redesign kitchen interior. This worktop composed of quartz and resin gives out a very hard wearing platform to work. It can therefore withstand any impact caused due to daily use. At the same time it can also bear high temperature. Working with them becomes easier for architectures and workers as it is quite versatile when it comes to shaping and curving. However, at style of design front there are not many varieties.
No doubt, quartz worktops are better heat resistant material compared to any solid surface, though protection boards are advisable on quartz surface before use. Also, hot items should never be placed directly on quartz surface. Never get trapped by a salesperson who informs you wrong about its heat resistant surface. If he is doing so means he is actually cheating on you. Another drawback that you have to accept with these worktops is that joints of quartz worktops are quite visible where as other solid surfaces offer seamless joints. Where you are getting a classy material to decorate you can of course avoid such minor drawback that hardly affects its look.
The plus point you get with quartz worktops are that these are non porous and stain resistant. Consequently, you don need to go for sealing or maintenance frequently. Colour variety is one feature that you can expect with these worktops. You can find vivid colours such as reds, blues, green, and for a change light grey as well. Though, it is not cost effective but quite reasonable to afford. Moreover, quartz is extremely hygienic because cleaning this material is very easy. A damp cloth can be used and in case of excessive stain a small quantity of non bleach household cleaner can be used. Direct use of bleach is not advisable.

I have a few rocks I need identified…?
Here are the stones:
#1 is a deep, opaque bluish green with gold-colored pockmarks. It seems light for its size.
#2 is an opaque dark blue, with what looks like quartz in veins over the surface. It has light, sandy-colored scratches and the blue color looks grainy, like wood.
#3 is a mostly dark green rock, in the same fashion as #2, except that at the top of the rock, there is a layer of white on the surface and then a dark grayish color spotted with the white. Faults in the rock appear white.
#4 seems to be the same rock as #3, except it is all dark green and has white spreckles in a stripe around the middle and bottom.
#5 is an opaque, very light greenish-blue rock (no, it’s not turquoise) that looks as though it has clouds of white inside it.
Lastly, #6 is very strange. It appears to be quartz on the top half, but then has striations of gray, brown, and white in random patterns around the bottom.
I would love to know what these are! Please help!
