I’m having trouble tying knots in elastic for bracelets/jewelry.?

Currently,I have someone hold the first part of my knot so it doesn’t loosen while I tie the second part (square knot). I could use advice on tying it by myself. I’m using a clear stretch cord and it is somewhat slippery.

I always cut a longer length than what I really need to give me extra to knot with and then I just clip the excess off after the knot is made.
