Instead of having their defaults set to channel 1 why don’t they just set it to 11?

Interesting that yours was defaulted to 1. Every router and access point I’ve ever bought, which is hundreds, is defaulted to channel 6. What brand is it? Not that it really matters. The channel separation between 1, 6 and 11 is still relatively small so it can still fit in the 2.4GHz frequency band.
