Color Change

Color can have a huge impact on the way we feel in a space. It can make you feel happy, peaceful or energized. Color can also bring back memories; it can remind you of playful childhood days or wonderful vacations. Creating rooms in our home that echo those memories can be achieved, by choosing the correct color schemes.

Another important factor to keep in mind is the function of the room. Colors have the ability to be active or restful. Red, orange and yellow are active colors and have the ability to stimulate your senses. Studies have shown that the color red will also enhance food and increase your appetite; this would be a great choice for a kitchen or dining room where the function is eating and socializing. Blue and green are restful colors and have the ability to help you unwind by creating a soothing environment. These colors would work quite nicely in a bedroom retreat. This color palette will help your mind to be less active and will create a serene environment.

Nature is a wonderful way to get inspired and will help you to determine a color palette. The four seasons alone have their own color scheme and offer many choices to choose from.

Do you love summer but wish that the season could be 12 months long. Do you have fond memories of lazy days at the beach? Why not decorate your home with coastal colors. The colors of the water, sky, sand and beach are already chosen for you by nature. The colors of summer love to be paired with crisp white. Consider adding furniture pieces in a white painted finish. Ideas for a beach room would be to paint the walls a light blue with white ceiling and trim. Keep upholstered pieces in a neutral sand beige. Add accents of grass green, blue and a touch of brown to ground the space.

Do you have fond memories of autumn camping? This season has the most vivid palette with shades of cranberry, burnt orange, leaf green, gold, brown and black. Colors of autumn love warm tones, keep furniture pieces in the mid toned brown or painted black finishes. Ideas for an autumn inspired room would be to paint the walls a leafy green, paint the ceiling and trim a warm off white. Add upholstery in chocolate brown ultra suede with accents of burnt orange and yellow.

Have you traveled abroad and wish you could bring a little bit of your vacation home with you? When you think of different countries they often have a color palette associated with them.

The colors of France are often blue, yellow and white. This color palette can be found in the country French style of décor.

Travels to Italy bring warm tones of red, clay, gold, and olive green and can be found in the Tuscan décor style.

Safari trips bring the wild factor to your décor with brown, black, gold and animal prints.

A trip to the orient also inspires color choices for your home. Shades of black, grey and red are most common in Asian décor.

Color can have a major impact in your decorating, make it your friend and embrace it. It will truly set your home apart and showcase your style.

When does a purebred yellow labrador retriever’s eye color change to brown?

We just got an 8 week yellow lab puppy, and his eyes are sort of a dark blue/grey/green color. The parents are purebred and have the standard dark brown eyes. When will his eyes change to that color?

it could be a few more months. the eye color gradually changes so give it time.
