When can i switch my cartilage earring to a ring? I just got it yesterday?

Find the cartilage piercing and read.
The first time I got my cartilage pierced, the person told me to wait 2 months to switch it. I tried to switch it 2 months later, but it kept on bleeding. My cartilage was swollen for a good month and my hole closed. I went back and got my cartilage pierced again, but on a different ear, and decided to wait 4-5 months until I switch it. Now my piercing is fine and it healed.
I would really recommend waiting 4-5 months until you switch it. Every night, clean the piercing with water OR go to Claire’s and buy their ear cleaning solution. Do not clean any piercings with rubbing alcohol! It only irritates the newly pierced area and WILL make the area swollen.
The first time you switch your cartilage earring, try to buy a ring instead of a stud. The reason why is because it allows the area to “breathe” and it makes for a better cleaning routine. After 4 months you can switch it to any type of earring.
Yes you can use a regular earlobe piercing for your cartilage. Make sure it is the right material. If it isn’t, it’ll infect the area and the earring will rust. I don’t know where you live, but in Canada we have a store called Shopper’s Drug Mart, and they sell biohazardous earrings for a max of $20. They’re meant for those who have sensitive ears. Even if you don’t have sensitive ears, try to find biohazardous earrings so it won’t rust and cause damage to your ear.
A cartilage piercing isn’t like a normal earlobe piercing. It can become easily infected. The first few months you’ll experience swelling in that area, but it’s normal. You may also get crust build up and that’s also normal. Every so often twist your earring so your hole takes shape. Don’t be brave and take it out before 4 months. It’ll only continue to bleed and you’ll become very dizzy.
I know it’s JUST a cartilage piercing lol. I’ve learnt so much from re-piercing it. Don’t make the same mistakes.
