Selling diamond ring and earings, need advise?
Hello I need advise on where I can sell set of diamond earrings and a ring. I had it appraised and paper says it is 25K for all. I went to respected jewelry store in our town and they offered me 2K for all. After I showed the appraised value they looked like idiots, since they thought I was an idiot. Anyways I was wondering where I can sell it. I am pretty sure people on craigslist and ebay won’t pay 20K for jewelry. I was thinking about going to bigger city such as Atlanta and selling it but then I don’t have that much time to negotiate the price and etc. Throw some ideas what I can do. Have a look at the site I quoted below, it give all the different options to sell your jewelry and the respective price you might get. The 25K is the price you would have to pay to get similar jewelry brand new. Your jewelry is not brand new, it’s second hand. As jewelry stores mark up their prices by about 300%, you would have to look at the value of your pieces as around 8K. This would be the most you can hope for. For that you will have to find a private person who wants exactly what you have. If you don’t have the time, you will have to go to established venues, like ebay, rubylane, craigslist, your local newspaper etc. You will find more interest there, but you will have to lower your price. Lets say 5 – 6K. So, if the jeweler/pawnbroker also wanted to sell it for that price, they would have to buy it from you for half of that, to make any profit. So, they price they offered you was not too far off.
The thing is, you either have time to find the right buyer or you have to sell lower.
