How long do I have to wear stud earrings?
I got my ears pierced at claire’s on July 1, and I am not sure how long I have to wear studs. When can I start wearing regular “hook” earrings?
they say 6 weeks. but I waited 2 months to avoid infection. Piercing infections are a pain. You have to pay to have them heal. Then wait a few months and get them re pierced. Make sure you clean any earrings you put into your ear. This will help avoid infection. Dont go with giant danglies right away, you’ll end up in pain. Try something a bit bigger than your studs. And at night, clean your studs and put them in while you sleep. This will prevent them from closing up. Bandaid makes a blue antibacterial wash. I’ve always used it for piercings. It’s only about $3.
And ALWAYS clean earrings before putting them in. It’s best to try real metals at first. You may be allergic, and dont want to find out while the hole is still fresh.
My mother pierces ears (and has been for the last 25 years). So she was really on me about proper piercing care.
