Topaz jewelry is very stylish and fashionable. Some people believe that topaz jewellery holds paranormal powers that have been used for centuries. The orange topaz is the birthstone for those that are born in the month of November and state gemstone for the US state of Utah. Theblue topaz is the birthstone for the month of December and the state gemstone for the US state of Texas.

However [*COMMA] some say that the word’topaz’ sprung from’Topazos’, which is an island in debt Sea and is now called Zabargad. Topaz was used to refer to any yellow, golden-brown and sometimes also green gemstone in the Middle Ages. But now it is referred to a particular silicate mineral of aluminum and fluorine.

Topaz is a mineral that is valued as gemstone and is frequently found in collaboration with granitic rocks. Its Moh’s toughness is 8 and its specific gravity is 3.4-3.6. Its distinguishing characteristic is its perfect basal cleavage. Meaning, it’s got a cleavage that is parallel to the base of the crystal structure or to the lattice plane which is standard to one of the lattice axes.

A pure topaz is colorless or clear and transparent.

Using heat treatment, irradiation process and coloring agents,eg iron and chromium, a standard topaz can be turned into a different color. Topaz may be made blue, gray, white, pale green, pink or reddish-yellow, and transparent or translucent.

Topaz with pinkish-orange, reddish-orange or fine golden-yellow color is regarded as imperial topaz. It’s the most sought-after and highly valued of all natural topaz because it’s a relatively scarce variety. However, it is delicate to sunlight and its color can fade when exposed to it for an extended period of time.

It is also the symbol of friendship.

Natural blue topaz barely happens. This is done through heat treatment and irradiation, a method by which a drab, gray or light yellow topaz is exposed to radiation so that its optical properties are boosted.

The majority of the pink topazes are yellow topazes that have been heat-treated to turn pink. Champagne topaz in a light to medium shade of brown is one of the only a few naturally coloured sorts of topaz.

mystic topaz is the topaz with the rainbow effect. This isn’t a naturally occurring topaz.

Fine yellow and blue topaz can be discovered in Siberia, while the Minas Gerais in Brazil produces much of the wine-yellow topaz.

Topaz may also be found in Thomas Range in Utah, in San Diego County, California, and near Topsham in Maine. Drab and light-blue topaz varieties have also been found in Texas, in Precambrian granite within the Llano Uplift in Mason County. Though, there is no commercial mining of topaz in that area.
