Which service should I join for Military Intelligence: Army or Marines?

My recruiter tells me that with my scores, I could go military intelligence. But the Army only has Intelligence Analyst, while the Marines have Intellegence Specialist and Counter-Intelligence Specialist. If I join the Army, I am guaranteed the job, but I’ll be stuck behind a desk reading maps for the rest of my life. If I join the Marines, it’s not a guarantee that I’ll get the job, but I’ll be able to make a larger impact. What should I do?

There are many types of intelligence fields. Marines are far more limited in MOS choices. I am an intelligence analyst for the Army so I will give you some information I know about the Army Intelligence Corps.

Some Army intelligence jobs are as follows: all-source intelligence analyst , signals intelligence, interrogator, imagery analyst, geospatial analyst, human intelligence, electronic warfare, cryptologist, etc.

The only MOS for the army (as far as intelligence) that I know does a lot of map work (majority) are geospatial and imagery analyst. The others do not read maps all day. Believe it or not, but most intelligence jobs use maps a lot, even Marines.

When I think military intelligence, I think Army, Air Force, and Navy. The marines are a much smaller force and have less schools and slots available. Also, many marines get sent to the Army’s intelligence schools in Fort Huachuca anyway.
