Why does your finger turn green whenever you wear a silver ring?

I bought a set of five silver bands from Charlotte Russe. I’ll wear it and take it off to wash my hands and I try my best to avoid contact with water when wearing rings. Why does a ring turn you finger green? Is it a bad thing if it turns green and you continue to wear it? How do you get the green off?

use nail polish remover to get the green off
and use clear nail polish on the inside of the ring and that will stop it from turning ur finger green… u just have to reapply it because it chips off from water and stuff
