Leather Anklets: Fashion with Being Flashy
Leather anklets can be a great option, especially if you are a more laid back, casual person who does not like flashy jewelry. Since they are not going to be showing off, they will not take away from the appearance of your outfit. Whether you are wearing it with jeans or shorts in the summer time or even a causal summer dress, these are a great addition.
Some people wear their ankle bracelets all of the time, others take them off when they are sleeping, bathing or swimming. If you choose to wear a regular anklet all of the time, you increase the chance of snagging it on something and then breaking it. While an ankle bracelet made of leather may not snag in your sleep, it may cause you other problems, particularly if you are swimming or bathing while wearing them. Some leather made anklets can shrink as they dry, becoming dangerously tight in just a few minutes of water exposure. Salt water can make this happen even faster and more dramatically, so use caution.
For other people, the ankle bracelet they wear will depend on the type of outfit that they are wearing that day. They may have a shell and leather anklet that they wear for casual looks while they may have a dainty metal one in either gold or silver for dressier days and outfits. There are even those people who wear both at the same time. It seems that the younger the person, the more likely they are to have several ankle bracelets on each leg.
Summer camps often have a craft project that they do. One of these projects can include making your own leather ankle bracelet. If you aren’t going to be at camp, you can make your own version of these- making sure that not only do you make a custom fit for your anklet but a custom appearance as well. You might weave beads of various colors into the ends or you might choose to stamp or burn your name into the leather itself. You can make a thicker or thinner anklet, depending on what you want –it is your own personal vision that you are bringing to life after all.
As leather gets older, it may get softer and more comfortable with some exceptions. Wet leather not only shrinks but may become stiff and coarse as well. If that is the case, you may be able to soften it back up with a leather product. However, you can avoid having to do that if you care for your leather anklets the right way in the first place.
