Viva Beads

Some time ago I began making presents for my friends and family, as my need to create and lack of money led to this. Therefore, I have tried to use materials that I already had in the house or to buy just some very cheap items that were necessary. And thus I came to personalize frames. I use wooden frames, which are classical and allow you to be creative.

What you need for this process? A wooden frame that you can buy in stores or you can have it done for you. Glue. Make sure it is a very good one and it will glue any type of materials; or at least 90% of the materials you might use: metal, wood, other textile. Beads. Don’t be afraid to use them. Either wooden or glass beads, or plastic beads that are shiny, any color, shape and size.

Chose the size of the beads according to the size of the frame. Too big beads for a tight frame will make it look quite ugly. Chose colors according to the pictures you are going to use in the frame. You would like to frame the picture, not to hide it.

Now, according to the personality of the one who will get the gift, choose a pattern. Draw the pattern with a pencil, lightly, almost invisible, then apply the glue. Put the beads on the glued pattern and let them dry. Here’s a tip to easily glue the beads: use a needle to put more beads on it; gently put the beads on the frame and then slowly take the needle out. Let the frame dry and that’s it, you have it all done.

If you still do not have an idea, let me tell you what kind of frames I personalized. For example, I made a frame for a salsa lover. So, I used two colors, red and white (as these were the colors of the salsa group the person was in) and wrote on the four sides of the frame these simple words: E viva la salsa. Another frame was a little more abstract, in the sense that on three sides I made a curved line, like a wave, from white small beads and on the other side I attached a nice red bow. It was quite elegant.

If you have other hobbies as well, such as origami or quilting or making flowers from different textiles, you can use them as well to embellish your frame. Just let your imagination wonder about.

Are necklace beads waterproof?

I’ve worn sharkteeth necklaces both in and out of water (showers, beach, and swimming pools) since I was 12. I’m 20 now. Recently, I got this alligator tooth necklace online. It’s this one, to be exact:
